On the Grounds of the BraeBurn Inn
There’s lots to do & see in the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley, but for guests of the BraeBurn Inn there’s more!
The BraeBurn Inn has an indoor Exercise Room available year-round which includes a treadmill, recumbent exercise bike and Bowflex. The BraeBurn’s grounds include a sand Volleyball/Badminton Court, and two Horseshoe Lanes for summer activities.
We also stock volley balls, soccer balls, badminton rackets, as well as horseshoe, bocce and croquet sets. All are available to borrow on request.
These facilities are available to all BraeBurn Inn guests. They were designed to add to the recreational experiences already available throughout the valley. The play equipment is available at the Office. Or bring your own play equipment to enjoy our recreation facilities and grounds.
As for the rest of the Town and Valley:
If you like Hiking
Then there is hiking (mid-July to the end of September to avoid the tick-season). There are numerous trails at Echo Valley Provincial Park and two at Katepwa Beach. Then there’s the Trans-Canada Tansi Trail which goes right through the whole area as well as a short but very nice marsh trail starting just west of the Museum.
Many Summer Opportunities
Summer in the Valley affords many recreational opportunities—swimming, boating and fishing on our four lakes: Pasqua, Echo, Mission and Katepwa with public boat launches on all four lakes and public beaches at Echo Valley Provincial Park, B-Say-Tah Point, Fort Campground and at Katepwa Beach.
Bicycling around the lakes is a popular pastime throughout the area and there is even a Skateboard Park at the East end of Fort Qu’Appelle tucked in behind the Robins Donuts.
Splash Parks for the Kids
If the kids want a splash park, there is one at the Fort Campground north of town on Boundary Avenue just across the river behind the Fort. There you will also find a sand volleyball court. Both are right next to the Fort Campground Beach. If you feel like a little drive, the Balcarres Lions built a splash park in Balcarres, just 15 minutes northeast on Highway 10.

Sightseeing Opportunities
For those of you interested in the history of the area, the Fort Qu’Appelle & District Museum has many well thought out displays and is located at the north end of Bay Avenue just before you reach the Qu’Appelle River and Flood control structure at the mouth of Echo Lake. There are also several Treaty 4 and other historical sites to visit in and around Fort Qu’Appelle, as well the Motherwell National Historic Site near Abernathy, northeast of Fort Qu’Appelle.
Hungry?
If you’re hungry, we have many excellent restaurants to choose from open all year round right here in the Fort as well as at Lebret and Katepwa Beach in the valley and in many of the small communities surrounding the valley.
Don’t forget Winter
Winter in the Valley affords many more recreation opportunities–ice-fishing, snowmobiling, skiing–downhill or cross-country, ice-skating, snowshoeing, and more. Or, just go for a walk in the crisp, clean winter landscape the valley affords, and breathe in the refreshingly cold country air.
